Goodbye, Mr Lim Goh Tong

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong was born in 1918 in China. He was the founder of Genting Group which is currently Malaysia’s famous tourist attraction. Indeed, without Tan Sri, we would not have the chance to enjoy ourself after a day’s work. He built the hotels and the theme parks. Everyone has something good to say about him.

I will always remember the day I first stepped foot in Genting Highlands. I was seven then. Although I can’t really remember how I spent my days there, but I know I enjoy myself very much. Since then, my family become an annual customer of Genting Highlands. Every year, Genting Highlands will be our holiday look-forwards.

The death of Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong touched me. Perhaps, he reminded me of my own grandfather whom I have never seen for years. Sob,sob.

For those of you who are not sure who Tan Sri Lim is, you can try searching in Wikipedia.org. Aged 89, Tan Sri passed away peacefully at 23rd October 2007.

Thanks!!!

I would like to express how grateful I felt when lately, a loyal reader of the blog wrote an email to me. I asked her why she doesn’t want to leave a comment because it is much more easier. But, she told me that she doesn’t want any unnecessary publicity. Oh, that is so nice of her indeed.

She told me that by reading my blog, she obtained a glimmer of hope in practicing her English skills. She comes from the same country as I am, Malaysia and she is just eight years old. But, she is determined to learn this second language.

Thanks again to this young girl for supporting me throughout my blog writing. Not only that, I would also like to extend my greatest gratitude towards my family, particularly, sis, Annika, mum, Irene and Dad, Lionel. They try their best to read all of my posts though Annika only looks forward to the anime pictures in the post.

Thank you to the readers as well, friends and everyone who knows me. I will put my best foot forward and write a better article. Comments and testimonials are well received by me. I hope to be able to become an open-minded person so send in more comments, no matter it is how bad or worst.

Last but not least, thanks you a million again!!!

The Cruel Cruel World Out There

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Two minutes ago, I have been checking my blog stats and three wonderful readers wanted to know about the young girl, Nurin Jazlin who was eight, being murdered and stuffed inside a sports bag.

Just five days ago, she celebrated her birthday, 11 September 2007 and now she is gone forever. She is a Malaysian girl who was reported missing after she went to a wet market by herself located near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju to buy a hair clip on the night of August 20, 2007. She was last seen being dragged into a white van which the police were able to determine by enhancing footage caught on a CCTV installed nearby. Her parents made a missing person report to the police and a search for her was made in the subsequent weeks, conducted by several organizations including the mainstream media and NGOs .

Then, on September 17, 2007, a gym bag was discovered by the shop owner in PJS 1/48, Petaling Jaya. It contained an unidentified child’s naked body; police believed that she had been dead for more than six hours before the discovery.A cucumber and a brinjal was found stuffed inside her private parts which had caused her rectum to rupture. It was determined that bacterial infection had contributed to her death. At the time, Nurin Jazlin’s parents were not able to identify the body as their daughter’s due to the changes in her physical features and it was even suggested that the child might be a foreigner, as she lacked scarring which would be caused by the mandatory BCG vaccination against tuberculosis. Her parents initially maintained hope that their daughter might still be alive, and were the victims of several prank calls from people claiming that Nurin Jazlin was under their care. Later DNA tests was conducted and however confirmed the body as Nurin Jazlin’s.

Her body was later claimed by her family from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and she was laid to rest at the Muslim burial cemetery in Taman Ibu Kota, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on 21 September after the Friday noon prayers.

Police are looking for the two suspects, seeking for the poor girl’s justice. That is all I know about the Nurin’s case. So, now I would like to give this a piece of my mind. However, I hope to obtain forgiveness from everyone in case I hurt any of your feelings. It is all this that I hope will make this all a history.

We should learn from the Nurin case. We should know that by now, the world is no longer a safe place for us to run around freely. You will never know when someone is casting an eye on you. Therefore, it is the parent’s duty to ensure their child’s safety. DON’T ever let them out of the house for even an inch. Don’t give any excuses! If there is a will, there is a way. I am not blaming Nurin’s parents although many of the society wanted explanation from them.

I can’t help but to agree with them. Although you have suffered more than enough throughout this event, I just wanted to know how can you let your child as young as eight to go to the wet market alone when you rightfully know how dangerous it is nowadays. This should teach you a painful lesson. Not only to Nurin’s parents, of course but this is to all the parents out there, listen up…no matter how your child beg you…don’t ever let them venture out alone.

This case is not the first one. Indeed, there has been tons of them last time, from sexually assaulted to murdered and raped. Every time something like this comes out, the media and community will put the blame on the parents. It is not something new and so I think something should be done, quick.

We should not merely depend on the government, but everyone should help out…like the police were searching for the suspect. We can help out by keeping an eye whenever we are out of the house. Keep the Rakan COP(police) number in your mobile phone. Who knows?

Besides that, make sure you hold your child’s hand like holding a piece of gold. Don’t ever let go. We don’t want a child to keep getting missing and end up like Nurin.

Last but not least, remember to teach your child not to entertain strangers. Don’t eat anything offered by them too.

A Open Letter to an Irritating Friend

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Dear Drake(it is a girl)*(NRN),

Sorry for interrupting your lunch. I know it is odd to write letter to you since I see you every day but I really want you to know something. No offenselar but you really very very very very very very very irritating lor. I can’t stand all your childish and ‘babyish’ attitude.

I deeply understand that you like AK(NRN) but you don’t have to show it in front of me, right? You know I am not the mushy- mshy type of girl. So, stop acting cute and tough in front of guys when you act like a total moron in front of girls.

Yeah, yeah, yeah! Your tears are of golden and you whine when you cry and you only show it to girls. I still remember when we played basketball last week…the ball( bear me, only 0.5 kg) hit you and you were crying like hell(although not I who hit it). But, as soon as the guys came trotting, you quickly said,” Erm…it’s fine! I’m ok,” and smile like an angel. Oh, so ‘cute’!

Aha! And there is once when you like to touch the girl’s backside. Yeah, looks fun to you but it is so damp grossed! I mean, stop slapping your palm to my precious butt. I don’t like it. Receive our comment and disregard as a lesson and try to become a better person. Unfortunately, you would not accept facts! You will only start to cry and say bad things about us at the back.

Remember, we ’scold’ you because you are our friend. We still want back the old you…Now, I think I gotta’ pen off. I guess you are curious who is the one writing this but don’t worry, if you don’t let anyone read this, you are safe but normally, the old Drake will show off this to her friends, saying this is a love letter. So, in case you really did, DRAKE IS ONE TOTAL IDIOT! Haha. See you later…

Yours truly,

Anonymous.

A True Friend

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

“Who is your best friend?”, one of my pals asked me three days ago. I was lost for words, thus when the bell rang, signifying assembly time, for the first time, I was happy.

It is not that I don’t want to answer the question, which is so common among teenagers. But, what is best friends, really? One who sacrifices everything for the sake of friendship, one who share your joy when you are happy, one who stays by your side and console you when you are sad, one who tries her best to help you when you are at ease and last but not least one who will not bad mouth you at your back( or rather stab your back). So, now do you know who is your best friend?

Back to the question, when someone asked me that, I would try my very best to avoid it by running away, eating, and jumping into another topic. That is because no one( not a soul) suits the criteria of being a good, truthful friend. Right, I am not being ridiculous or demanding, but yes, I myself was not perfect as well. frankly speaking, I would not feel bad even if my fellow friends would not choose me as their best friends.

Being a best friend is like a soul trapped inside a person’s heart. You have to listen to her and you are like given a duty to satisfy her. If not, you are not a good friend. Well, I got some kinda’ best friends story to share with you.

Tallie is a really nice girl and I enjoy her company. But, she has a lot of problems to share that I got bored and angry sometimes. She talks about the same thing everyday, of all her problems. Everyday, she will pull me to a far away land and tell me her stuff. I know that a friend(true friend) shares, listen and keep their friend’s secret. But, I am not that kinda’ counselor and I can’t help much, can I? Love story and family problem can be passed on to teachers, not me! I am just an ordinary 14 year old girl and I prefer to mind my own business.

Then, there is this Jerome, who keeps talking about the one and only Jessica Simpson. Alright, this Jerome is a guy and he is a die die hard fan of Jessica. So, if you are asking what is wrong, I will tell you right now! It is irritating and annoying when everything comes out from his mouth is Jessica Simpson. I know as a friend, I have to encourage and share the joy and I am not jealous or what but this is ….It is far more unacceptable when he keeps on following you wherever you go(except to the toilet, of course. Luckily, he is not a girl), which added to some unnecessary rumors.

Dove is far more worst than Tallie and Jerome. She keeps on bugging me and invite me to chat and play when the teacher is in front. She seems least interested in studies. While I try my best to focus on my studies and ignore her predicaments, it is so irritating and mind-boggling. She will say “Very Boring!”. yeah, I know that I am the quiet type in class, and she can’t and mustn’t expect me to talk and play when the the teacher is busy teaching. No way!

The three friends mentioned above are indeed my closest friends. But, are they considered as my best friends? I thought best friends would do their best to make their friend comfortable and none of them did. I just pray and hope that they will not read this article. Last of all, sorry if I break any of your heart. Sorry!

Anyone can catch your eye, but it takes someone special to catch your heart.

Exam-the Immense Pressure

Friday, October 12th, 2007

It is the time of the year again…where I have to work extra hard. The end of the year assessment which will determine which class I will be going next year. And that worries me because I will be sitting for my second public examination..PMR. A good class will definitely brings me more chances to score better.

My friends say that I worry too much…that I should relax myself so that I will not stressed out. But, I can’t find a reason to keep my fingers crossed! Although my inner self pressure me to “Study!Study!24 hours!”, but my other half say “Relax…comon’ it will not be that hard, right?”

Now, the test has really arrives and I got so freaked out! I try my best not to look at other things on my table. I even try not to go to the toilet or daydreaming(one of my renowned past time). All my attention was the book in front of me. The guys were not on my mind at all. I swear!

That is a week ago business…and now I can at least relax a bit. With Science and some really mind boggling subject done, I can at least spend my time with my beloved blog.

Haiz…mum is calling and bugging now…so I gotta’ pen off. Hope to write more stories later on when I got the time. Seeya’.(>
